Fram Renewable Fuels L.L.C. (Fram), a well-known exporter of wood pellets from the U.S. Southeast, has plans to construct a 500,000 metric ton wood pellet manufacturing plant in Hazlehurst, Georgia.

The Joint Development Authority of Jeff Davis County, Hazlehurst and Denton collaborated with Fram to locate a suitable plant site in Jeff Davis County. The facility will strategically utilize the available pine resources in a broad area north and west of the Hazlehurst location to fulfill the 1 million metric ton annual feedstock requirement. There will be approximately 60 jobs created directly by the plant alongside many indirect jobs that will develop in the forestry and logistics industries. Fram is working closely with Georgia Power, Atlanta Gas Light, Norfolk Southern and various other companies to ensure a smooth transition into construction and production at the new location.

Currently Fram operates Appling County Pellets L.L.C in Baxley, Georgia which has a capacity of 220,000 metric tons per year. In a joint venture project with Telfair Forest Products in Lumber City, Georgia Fram is producing 120,000 MT of wood pellets annually. In addition to these, Fram manages pellet production from various other small mills in the area. This new facility positions Fram among the top wood pellet export companies in the United States.

Construction of the plant will begin upon completion of engineering and permitting processes. The production from this facility will join Fram’s existing export portfolio directed toward the European market. The City of Hazlehurst, Joint Development Authority of Jeff Davis County, Hazlehurst and Denton as well as Georgia Department of Economic Development have been a great help in getting this project off the ground.
